Eastern Michigan @ Kent State (-7.5)

6:00 PM

The hook on the high side of seven makes this matchup difficult to bet. Kent State is fully capable of clobbering Eastern Michigan. But will the Fast Flash offense be at its best? Sean Lewis’s squad seems to be hovering around its floor this season after facing a brutal non-conference schedule to start the year. Results in the conference slate have not impressed. Meanwhile, Chris Creighton has his EMU Eagles playing their typical year filled with close games decided by just one or two scores. Eastern Michigan is always a tough team to figure out and getting a touchdown on the road at Kent State seems to be fair. Therefore, this game is a pass. The play: Pass

Miami (Ohio) @ Northern Illinois (-1.5)

7:00 PM

MAC spreads are increasingly accurate as the season has progressed. This is the case for most conferences but is readily apparent in these weeknight games that will get lots more betting action than if these games were on Saturdays. Miami (Ohio) needs to win out to go bowling. 2022 had lofty expectations for the RedHawks. Unfortunately, those expectations had to be tempered significantly due to a lengthy injury absence for talented passer Brett Gabbert. Northern Illinois has had its own injury issues at quarterback; Rocky Lombardi has missed a large chunk of the year as well. Lombardi’s uncertainty makes this game largely unbeatable. Regardless, it should be a solid game. The play: Pass

Western Michigan @ Central Michigan (-10.5)

8:00 PM

Western Michigan is slogging down the home stretch. The Broncos are having their worst season in a long time and are performing more than a touchdown below expectations. Meanwhile, Central Michigan was having a similar season with star running back Lew Nichols III missing a number of games. Both teams have seemed to found their levels of performance for the year. However, Central Michigan has a much higher potential ceiling for the end of the season. Still, this spread is a difficult one to bet. The Chips have not been great on offense even with Nichols in the lineup. Plus, laying double digits on a team that is less than elite is generally not advisable. Besides, MACtion often has unthinkable results and outcomes. It would not be utterly shocking for Western Michigan to show up against its in-state rival. The play: Pass
