MACtion Wednesday Bets
Wednesday, Nov 9th
Buffalo @ Central Michigan (-2.5)
7:00 PM
Central Michigan is playing like a new team now that star running back Lew Nichols is back. The Chips have actually been able to move the ball allowing Jim McElwain to use the full playbook and make an actual game plan. Buffalo came back to earth after losing at Ohio last week. Yes, the Bulls are playing better than expected. However, it appears Buffalo reached its ceiling for the year. We should find out tonight. Central Michigan at its worst could beat Buffalo this season. Catching this spread prior to some drastic line movement would have made it a full play. However, it is pretty close to accurate at minus-2.5. The Play: CMU-2.5 (1 unit)
Kent State @ Bowling Green (+2.5)
7:00 PM
Kent State does not have a terrible loss this season. Kent State is playing to a lower rating than preseason predictions indicated they would largely due to the Fast Flash offense disappointing this season. Still, Kent State at its worst should be able to handle Bowling Green. For their part, the Falcons are drastically improved over the last several years. Only one more victory is needed to secure bowl eligibility. Frankly, that is stunning. Scot Loeffler’s job is likely safe now. Kent State should be able to win this game by around a field goal, but the improved Bowling Green squad at home is dangerous. Therfore, only a small wager is appropriate. After all, MACtion is wild. The Play: KS-2.5 (1 unit)
Northern Illinois @ Western Michigan (+1)
7:00 PM
This spread is fair. Western Michigan has plummeted in performance this year. Tim Lester really needs a late season surge if he does not want to get on the hot seat. Meanwhile, Thomas Hammock has struggled mightily without quarterback Rocky Lombardi. NIU is like a different team without the former transfer taking snaps. Passingthis game is advisable as neither team is predictable; never mind the injury situation. The play: Pass
