Wednesday, Oct 5th
SMU @ UCF (-3)
7:00 PM
This game was rescheduled due to Hurricane Ian. Originally supposed to be played in Week 5, SMU visits Orlando for a solid AAC game with UCF. The offenses should be impressive and high scoring would not be shocking in the slightest. UCF has struggled to move the ball via the pass at times but is still a solid ground team. SMU can score through the air with ease. The Mustangs have really only been slowed by former coach Sonny Dykes so far in 2022. UFC is good enough to be more than a field goal favorite at home in a conference matchup. The play: UCF-3 (1 unit)
Friday, Oct 7th
Nebraska @ Rutgers (+3)
7:00 PM
Nebraska is tough to figure out at the moment. Wildly missed expectations, an interim coach, and some all time program worst losses have marred 2022 and the year is not even half over. Meanwhile, Rutgers has improved relatively to its last several seasons. Greg Schiano is not the best coach but is not the worst. Nebraska has the raw talent to roll Rutgers, but the Scarlet Knights have shown enough life this year to compete with a down and out Huskers team. The play: Rutgers+3 (1 unit)
Houston @ Memphis (-3)
7:30 PM
Breaks have been tough to get for Houston so far this year. The Cougars allowed Tulane’s third string quarterback to carve them up at the end of the 4th quarter last week and then lost at home in overtime. Still, Houston has a solid quarterback and can actually tackle; something Memphis rarely does unless playing the likes of UMass. Memphis spent the first half last week looking ahead to this game. Betting the road team on a Friday night is tough, but Houston is the more complete team even when considering the Cougars’ struggles this season. The play: Houston+3 (1 unit)
Colorado State @ Nevada (-3.5)
10:00 PM
Both of these teams are having bad years and have become virtually unbeatable. Add in the mixed emotions that are sure to be had as Jay Norvell returns to Nevada for the first time since bolting at the end of last year. The play: Pass
UNLV @ San Jose State (-7)
10:30 PM
UNLV has played well this year but San Jose State has played even better. The Spartans have possibly the best defense in the Mountain West. Laying seven on the better team at home is a solid bet. My ratings have the home team favored by almost two full touchdowns and seven could be a bargain if UNLV cannot get its running game going. The play: SJSU-7 (4 units)
